Delays to email coming from PHP on Hostopia

This Tuesday 10th evening, emails from my PHP mail scripts running on Hostopia CGI have suddenly stopped flowing.
Normally they come over to PN within 30 secs or so.
Other incoming mail is unaffected.
Anyone else have this problem?

Re: Delays to email coming from PHP on Hostopia

Do the email headers give any clues as to where the mail has been held up?

Re: Delays to email coming from PHP on Hostopia

At present (23.00) no mail at all is being received.
I have generated emails from operational PHP CGI pages in a variety of my websites - and all have (currently) vanished.
This is a big £pain as it affects online ordering, Contact pages etc.
I am going to give it 30 mins and will then raise a ticket (which with luck will be picked up by 09.00 Wednesday).

Re: Delays to email coming from PHP on Hostopia

20 minutes ago I tried sending an email from Hostopia ccgi to my Plusnet address (using sendmail) and to gmail (using SMTP). No sign of either so far.

Add my voice to this ... no emails received since yesterday from php scripted websites (both wordpress and self coded).
No sign of problems on service status ...

Re: Delays to email coming from PHP on Hostopia

My last received  Hostopia PHP email was at 13.11 Mon.
I raised a ticket last last (Tues) night, but since it now appears to affect more than just me, I will ring CS.
If it a general Hostopia problem, it will probably hit every PN customer with a non-trivial website (e.g. anything with a Contact page), and the real gotcha is that no-one will know there is a problem until senders start complaining 'didn't you get my email / online dinner booking /  online payment receipt (it probably affects PayPal PDT and possibly IPN emails as well) / ....

Re: Delays to email coming from PHP on Hostopia

Maybe I should raise a ticket too..
Agree that it could be an issue for quite a few more people, I happen to check my weblogs which show I would have missed some orders yesterday - this problem does seem to go back to Monday.

Re: Delays to email coming from PHP on Hostopia

PHP mail() from Hostopia started flowing again at around 18.00 (perhaps slightly earlier) today Wed 11th.
Keeping my fingers crossed that things are now OK.
Mail created between Monday p.m. and Wed p.m. appears not to have been queued and looks - whoops! - as if it has all vanished.
Tnx to Bob for giving Hostopia a big prod.

Re: Delays to email coming from PHP on Hostopia

Yep, they've kicked something at their side. I've asked for some detail around what went wrong and for clarification that the missing mail is indeed lost.
Shout up if you're still having problems.

Re: Delays to email coming from PHP on Hostopia

PHP mail (sendmail) was working last night, as others have reported. However SMTP mail (using phpmailer) still vanishes.

[me=Bob Pullen]goes off to test...[/me]
I'm trying to send a test message using a PHPList install and I'm getting forbidden errors in the logs:
Error sending email to [REDACTED] The following From address failed: [REDACTED] : MAIL not accepted from server,503,5.0.0 Polite people say HELO first SMTP server error: 5.0.0 Polite people say HELO first SMTP server error: 5.0.0 Polite people say HELO first

I've asked Hostopia to take another look...

Hmm, not sure if the PHPList problem is related?
Trying a standalone script and mail is relayed via localhost without any problems:

Re: Delays to email coming from PHP on Hostopia

I was using my own phpmailer installation rather than the one built into phplist. At the end of the test script it says (eg) Message sent: date Thu, 12 Mar 2015 11:42:17 GMT but the sent message never arrives (at a Force9 or Gmail address). Unfortunately since we don't have mailboxes on Hostopia the bounce address (I use) is a Force9 account one and nothing gets to there either So I'm stuck for clues.
I note after being passed to mailrelay1c50.megamailservers.eu in your test onward relaying uses TLS (whereas the avasins currently don't), but presumably that shouldn't be significant?

Re: Delays to email coming from PHP on Hostopia

Odd. I don't think TLS has anything to do with it. I've modified my script to send to a Force9 address and that email's arrived as well:
