Quote from: David
In webmail my spam folder is empty, it shouldn't be should it?

Depends whether or not the system's identified any of your mail as spam! Wink
Quote from: David
I'm also getting a fair few phishing emails coming through, I mark them as spam and instead of being moved to the spam folder they are moved to trash.

Just tried on my account and if you drill down into the email itself before reporting as spam then you get IMAP errors (long standing problem ref: 57901). If you use the message list view and the checkbox though then it seems to work. This used to move messages to the 'Spam' folder but that stopped working some time ago. Now I was under the impression it doesn't move the email anywhere, it certainly doesn't seem to on my account?
Quote from: David
What does the X-CM Score mean? 0 meaning 0% chance of it being spam/phishing? Shouldn't mail reporting to come from halifax.com instantly be marked as suspicious when it isn't from Halifax?

The way that Cloudmark scores is a little odd. About 99.99% of emails are either 100 or 0.00 where 100 is spam. This may get refined over time but at the moment you can't establish a great deal from this header.
Quote from: pierre_pierre
... but as per the above what am I loosing? I used to get 4 or five spam a day, now its only two. I hope none of those are false positives

Highly unlikely. It'll just be that Cloudmark's reputation engine is detecting/blocking more spam when compared to IronPort. If you really want to find out what you're missing then you could always disable spam filtering? Wink

Re: Cloudmark anti-spam migrations October 2011...

You can turn it off using the controls on the Spam tab of Manage My Mail. Either for all your domains or individual ones as you desire.

Yep, just remember it will take 48 hours for DNS to fully propagate after enabling/disabling.

It's an option under Display Preferences "Delete Spam After Reporting". I was pretty sure that after reporting they were sent to the spam folder though I could easily be mistaken and they did indeed get deleted.
I did purge my trash folder yesterday I think it was so can't have a gander in there to check, it currently has 4 phishing mails sent today. It could well be that spam mails are not getting through (yay) so my spam folder is empty but isn't that removing a safeguard of false positives? Sweet just went and looked in my original email account and logitech sent me a voucher for 30% off my next purchase!

Re: Cloudmark anti-spam migrations October 2011...

If you want to avoid the risk of losing any emails through Plusnet spam filtering you could turn that off and do your own filtering. Personally I'd rather let Cloudmark do its work first. Cloudmark claims to handle newsletters better than competitors, that's something time will tell.

Ah yes, fogot entirely about those options. It does look like the option is to delete rather than move to the Spam folder though. There is an option to move reported non-spam from the spam folder to another of your choice but I've noticed it always *copies* the mail rather than *moves* it, even when the copy option isn't enabled (have added this detail to the internal problem notes).

It's not really removing a safeguard. The same edge blocking existed with IronPort, it just used their Senderbase reputation filters rather than Cloudmark's Authority ones.

Re: Cloudmark anti-spam migrations October 2011...

Should we be reporting false positives and negatives to notspam@spamtraining.plus.com and spam@spamtraining.plus.com as previously?
Should they still be sent as attachments (as per the help pages)?
Will action be taken in respect of the emails we forward to those mailboxes?
I've been moved over and first impression is that I'm not impressed!

Re: Cloudmark anti-spam migrations October 2011...

The relay spam filtering has yet to be switched so all outbound messages go through the IronPorts (even for those whose incoming messages are filtered by the Cloudmarks).
I assume the relays will progressively be switched once all customers are on Cloudmark.

That aspect of things stays the same yes.
Quote from: jelv

Yes, still sent as attachments.
Quote from: jelv

Nothing's being proactively done at present and probably won't until everybody's been moved across.

Likely to start tomorrow. Will need to keep an eye out for anybody getting 4xx/5xx SMTP responses when sending email.

Why?

False positives that IronPort handled correctly.
Missed spam that IronPort correctly identified.
(hence my question about notspam@spamtraining.plus.com and spam@spamtraining.plus.com!)

Dear xxx,

We're very excited to introduce Find My Past the TV show, a new 10-part series from findmypast.co.uk.

The show starts on 20 October 2011 at 9pm on the Yesterday channel: Freeview channel 12, Sky 537, Virgin Media 203. Chris Hollins of BBC Breakfast, Watchdog and winner of Strictly Come Dancing 2009 presents the show.

Each week we help three members of the public to discover how they are related to someone from a significant historical event, by searching the records on findmypast.co.uk. We follow the participants' journeys, before uniting them to reveal how they are linked.

Every Friday morning, read all about the previous night's episode on findmypast.co.uk, including which records were used to chart the participants' family histories.

Three of the episodes in the series will focus on significant events in WWII: Dunkirk, Battle of Britain and D-Day. We're building an online collection of photos to honour our heroes and we need your help. Share photos of your ancestors who were connected in any way to Dunkirk, Battle of Britain and D-Day with us and be a part of this fantastic tribute to our heroes. This feature will be available very soon on our Facebook page.
