Well what I meant was that the disabled POP account is just there for the archive as I move the mail from the IMAP account. Sorry that confused you.

That's exactly what I did. I wanted to keep my old messages archived, but I only need to read them on my home desktop PC. Periodically, I archive old messages by moving them from the IMAP account folders to local (old POP account) folders on my desktop computer's hard drive. This reduces the number stored on the IMAP server. In Thunderbird moving messages between folders is a simple drag and drop exercise.
All my current message folders are stored on the IMAP server and on both my desktop and laptop computers, which synchronise by downloading from the IMAP server. I also use a basic (non-Android) Samsung mobile phone with an IMAP client set to download only new messages and, when I am out, I can use this to check whether I have any new messages that need urgent attention.
