Bounceback email from

I'm trying to email a friend on a email address and I am getting bounce-backs with the following error code

Server error: '452 4.1.1 ... temporary failure'

He has looked and there is nothing on his server-side delivery log so it is not getting as far as firefly.

Is there anything I can do or does anyone know where the problem is?

Re: Bounceback email from

Error 452 can indicate a full mailbox.

If that is the case there's not a lot you can do until your friend frees up some space to accept incoming email.

I must have been really bad in a previous life as this was my 3rd ISP in a row that used lithium.
Now you're stuck with me because my new ISP doesn't run a forum Cheesy

Re: Bounceback email from

Thanks for the suggestion but I know for sure it is not that as they are receiving emails from other people and they have plenty of mailbox space.

Almost certainly a DNS error...  without the NDR, it's hard to tell Smiley

Re: Bounceback email from

I obviously don't know the actual address you're trying to send to, but I can send email directly to and it's accepted:

~$ telnet 25
Connected to
Escape character is '^]'.
220 ESMTP Postfix
250 DSN
mail from:<>
250 2.1.0 Ok
rcpt to:<>
250 2.1.5 Ok
354 End data with <CR><LF>.<CR><LF>
subject: test
this is a test, please ignore
250 2.0.0 Ok: queued as 732106C480
221 2.0.0 Bye
Connection closed by foreign host.

That suggests there's nothing wrong with the receiving server, assuming the problem isn't intermittent.

Like @Browni says, could be an issue specific to the particular mailbox you're trying to send to.

Or a communication problem between our email servers and's.

Re: Bounceback email from

Thanks for checking. The issue seems to have cleared now. I managed to send an email mid week. It definately would not work all weekend.
