Authentication

Outlook keeps asking for me to confirm my password on plusnet accounts. Is there a problem?

Re: Authentication

This is happening to me too - must be a plusnet problem?

Re: Authentication

Looks like a problem at PN Towers. Haven't been able to collect email via IMAP for the last 30 mins and there's similar reports from other PN users on Usenet as well.

Re: Authentication

Same here with Outlook, something is broken at PN as other services are fine. It will get fixed eventually.  Cool

Re: Authentication

Right, there's a P1 raised now and it's been called out. Just looking at getting a service status message out as well.
In the meantime webmail is working fine if there's anything urgent.

For info I've had authentication failures on webmail as well earlier. Does seem to be working at the moment.
Note that the problem is intermittent:-

Re: Authentication

Looks like it's fixed, though we're keeping the service status and problem open for monitoring just in case.

Re: Authentication

The problem still exists on a second PC at home which shares the PN service and has an email username like "myusername + otherperson name"  where it persistently asks for logon and also fails to authourise.  The main PC at home which has PN login username like "myusername" has been working without this problem for nearly a day.

Re: Authentication

The problem on Sunday was due to the auth daemon failing on one of the mail collection servers. It's now fixed and AFAIK there shouldn't be any residual problems Peter so I'll take a quick look at your account now...
Edit: I've successfully logged into all four of your mailboxes which suggests that there isn't a problem at this side. It's worth bearing in mind that you have three different passwords spanning those four mailboxes. Are you sure you're using the right one on the second PC at home?

Re: Authentication

Thank you Bob. It was the password. It has not been used since the mailbox was set up in 2004, I think. Once again, many thanks.
