Archived emails need unarchiving

One of our mailboxes has been archived, because the total size of our mailboxes exceeds 1 GB.

The mailbox is used by my daughter.  I've asked her several times to delete emails but she has been very busy lately and didn't get round to it.

It's been an annoying experience because the email last week said... "If you don't reduce the amount of emails stored in your mailspace then we may have to archive some of your messages. If this happens, don't worry and we'll send you another email with details of how to restore them. They will be kept in the archive for 30 days before they're permanently deleted."

A final warning that the mailbox would be archived would have been preferable to her entire mailbox being suddenly archived.  The above email also says some of your messages will be archived, but ALL of her messages were archived which was unexpected.

As for the text that says "we'll send you another email with details of how to restore them"...the email we received has no such details.  All it has is "To request your email account is un-archived, please respond to this message using the Help Assistant available on our website - http://contactus.plus.net"   When you use that you just end up with the contact phone number or being sent to the forum.

Can you please unarchive the mailbox, so she can access her emails, and delete some of them.

Re: Archived emails need unarchiving

Hi @mxsytfc

A final warning that the mailbox would be archived would have been preferable to her entire mailbox being suddenly archived.  The above email also says some of your messages will be archived, but ALL of her messages were archived which was unexpected.

As for the text that says "we'll send you another email with details of how to restore them"...the email we received has no such details.  All it has is "To request your email account is un-archived, please respond to this message using the Help Assistant available on our website - http://contactus.plus.net"   When you use that you just end up with the contact phone number or being sent to the forum.

-----------------------------------------

Users get several weeks of warnings after exceeding 75% utilisation.  Having reached 100% utilisation they get a number of further warnings at one week intervals, which says that the matter will be reviewed in one week's time and if there is no change, action will be taken.  So that is a minimum of 3 weeks warning - how many would you prefer it to be before taking action?  It is sad that some people find themselves "victim" to avoidable issues.

The email you received states that enough mailboxes (not email items) will be archived so as to bring the usage below 1GB.  Mailboxes are never part archived.  If there are multiple mailboxes the process starts with the largest and continues until what is left is less than 1GB.  Part archiving is simply not viable, as it is the file store which is being archived with not reference to their contents.

The email clearly has details on how to get the mailbox restored, however the link to said resource has been made very obscure and the text has not been updated, but the website does route you to the right places.
