Adding a new plusnet email address to Microsoft Outlook 2010

I have followed the instructions to add a new plusnet email address to Outlook 2010 and would seem to have been successful -  the new address appears on the bottom of the navigation pane. However, the view pane remains blank for the new address. When I entered microsoft test message in search it showed that these had come through but did not appear anywhere else. I would really appreciate it if someone could advise me of what other steps I need to carry out. Many thanks in anticipation.

Re: Adding a new plusnet email address to Microsoft Outlook 2010

Hi,

Not 100% sure where in the process you are having problems. I have sometimes given myself problems by using mixed case in the "Internet E-mail Settings" (see attached picture).

I'm using OL2013 but I think it's the same for 2010.

Hope it helps.

Re: Adding a new plusnet email address to Microsoft Outlook 2010

I've just realised an error in the picture - where I've put "Any1@username.plus.net" I think it should read "Any1@username.plus.com". Sorry.

Re: Adding a new plusnet email address to Microsoft Outlook 2010

Thanks for getting in touch @Tomo1

Could you post up some screenshots showing the issues you're having? We'll then be able to advise further.

Just make sure you don't include any private information like your username in the screenshot.

Re: Adding a new plusnet email address to Microsoft Outlook 2010

Hi,

Many thanks. I really appreciate your help. I think this could be the solution. When I set up the account I only entered my user name in the box. Being a novice, I am not sure what my "name of new mailbox" is referring to. Also, do i have to delete the account and start again or can i go in and alter it?

Again, many thanks

Re: Adding a new plusnet email address to Microsoft Outlook 2010

We're all novices until we've learnt how to do it.

Screen shots - there are lots of options, but if you are using Windows 7/8/10 this probably the easiest way.

On your keyboard find the print screen key (sometimes shortened to PrtScr). You may have to press a key marked FN(Function) to use it.

Select the window that you want to pint a copy of.

Press and hold the Alt key along with your PrtScr key.

Open the windows program called Paint and press CTRL+V to paste the screen print.

Save the file somewhere (I tend to save to my desktop)

Then when you've typed your message on here, attach the file using the little staple icon below.

I suggest you give it a try, you won't break anything. Smiley

PS You can edit out any personal info in Paint.

Re: Adding a new plusnet email address to Microsoft Outlook 2010

Thanks for getting back to us @Tomo1

From what I can see in the screenshot you've attached, it seems to just show you've not selected a folder to view the contents of. Could you go through the steps Here using the details from Here posting up screenshots of the stages you go through? I'd again make sure you blur out any personal information in a program like Paint.

Let us know how it goes.

Re: Adding a new plusnet email address to Microsoft Outlook 2010

Hi Gandalf/Cliff,

I have followed the instructions you have suggested and attached screenshots for each step of the way. It didn't like it when i entered + new mailbox name in the logon information, and so i reverted to just entering my username in the box. Otherwise, all went well but the testmessages from microsoft are still not showing in the view panel. I think there is some simple step i am missing out on. Again, many thanks for your help.

Re: Adding a new plusnet email address to Microsoft Outlook 2010

Ah, looks like you've added the names of the files as tags but you have attached 1 screen shot.

If you want to attach more than one file, when the file selection window opens you need to select all the files to be attached.

Hold the CTRL key and left-mouse-click on each one you want, up to 9 files each no more than 21MB.
