Accessing my emails on Samsung galaxy j5, All I get is can't access server notice

I am trying to access my emails on my Samsung galaxy J5 when I go via my Gmail to add an account I get a message stating Can't access server. Any ideas what is wrong please? I have picked to use IMAP not pop as advised

You don't have to use G Mail (unless a gmail account), as a sorting office.
Just use the native Android e mail app in the phone.
