Accessing F9 email using IMAP from an Android phone

I have an HTC desire android phone and have sucessfully set up the incoming IMAP server so I can read my F9 emails from my phone but I have not been able to set out the outgoing SMTP server to send mail.
I have spoken to my network provider (Orange) but they were unable to provide help as they did not recognise Force9 as an email provider.
Is there anything I can do?
Many thanks

Change your smtp server to:
smtp.orange.net
And try again

I've tried that but no joy.

Our mail servers refuse email from non-F9 connections. Subscription based account holders are able to use SMTP authentication but this doesn't apply to you. You'll need to contact Orange to see if they have placed any restrictions on connections to their SMTP server, as this is the likely cause of the problem.

Orange have another smtp server , smtp.orangehome.co.uk. Its unclear which one should be used when on 3g. You might want to try that one instead of smtp.orange.net.
