A question or two about Plusnet's Web Mail

I only started to use this service this morning, so I cannot speak from experience, but what I have noticed is that some times the site can be very slow. For example, I've just gone back to it and it took 12 seconds from entering the URL to the login page appearing. Is this normal? Also sending a small email seems to take an inordinate amount of time for something that would be less than 2K (maybe even < 1K) in size.
Also, was this written in house by Plusnet staff?

WebMail is running like a one-legged dog today - averaging around 30 seconds to display my inbox but on a couple of occasions it has gone for two minutes before it gave up and displayed nothing.

No, it's open source software, with a few plugins added to improve usability.
I see from our monitoring platforms that our mail collection servers are under heavy load at the moment which probably explains the performance problems.

I have just now posted the same complaint about the dreadful performance of PN webmail under another topic heading "Unable to download email".
Am very disappointed with the PN service.
