xcopy and harddrive cloning

It isnt free but I use Norton Ghost for this sort of thing.
It does lots of other things as well as just cloning Hard Drives.
I have found it to be worth the initial outlay over the time I've been using it.

I would recomend Norton Ghost too.

Allthough it can be complex to understand at first, the wizard takes you through most of the steps in windows, prior to rebooting and performing the ghost operation.

Harddrive swap times where tested yesterday for myself. Out of the 1 1/2 hours spent working, only 20 mins was doing the copy. The rest was testing the system for problems and clearing the dust off the guts.

The writers of http://www.xxcopy.com now have a beta version of http://www.xxclone.com available. This may be what you want.

I have just used Acronis TrueImage to back up my hard disk. It was very efficient. Other people use Norton Ghost with which I am unfamiliar.
