Firstly, conroe would be better than any AMD now, and what do you mean "will the 4600 x2 run on xp home" Huh

I would think the 3500+ is a pretty good CPU and wouldn't upgrade just yet, but if you did then you can get a 4200+ for £125 or 4600 for £160. Just google them to see what is best esp regarding overclocking if that is your 'thing' so to speak.

BTW you have already asked this question on post further down the page (double post).

Buzzons he wants to know if the Dual Core Processor will work with both Cores on Windows XP Home - The anwser is yes it will.

Personally I wouldnt advise you upgrade, if you do want to upgrade now - go for a Dual Core Processor. If you can wait to upgrade - build around the new Intel Core Duo 2 as Buzzons mentioned. Code-Named Conroe.

Going for Conroe depends on whether it is financially beneficial as would need a £100+ mobo plus DDR2 RAM whereas an AMD 'X2' would be likely to work without any extra hardware and performance is still very good.
