ram question

Hi,ive just put another 512mb of ddr 2 ram into my pc,which should make it up to 1024 but it says on my system info 896mb,i think ive put the ram in properly so im not sure what is going on,anybody help please.

Are you using an onboard graphics chip? If yes, this could explain the missing RAM, as it as been allocated to the graphics chip.

Belated reply- but some motherboards also have limits as to the amount of RAM the chipset can address, and thus the motherboard can support. Doesn't sound like this has happened in your case, but if anyone is upgrading an older machine and finds the system isn't recognising a chunk of their RAM, this is probably the reason.
