geforce fx 5200ultra vs fx 5600 non-ultra

hi all, i am currently looking to buy a new graphics card as i am sick of my GF2. I am looking at the new FX chips, but does anyone know if it is worth getting the 5600 "non-ultra" over the 5200 ultra? and also, what are the specs of the 5600 "non-ultra" eg, memory bandwidth, fill rate etc. as i have only seen the specs for the ultra model.

thank for any help

Neither if you can afford the FX5600 then get a GF4 Ti 4600 or a ATI 9600, the FX isnt going to be a good GPU. Have a look at www.tomshardware.com and look at the comparisons, even with Tweaked drivers the FX doesnt come out well.

Plus the fact it has bad cooling which you will probally have to replace in the near future with a better fan and heatsink

I was seriously looking at the fx5600, but ended up buying a Ti4200 128mb (8xagp) card by MSI instead. It was some £40+ cheaper, gadget packed and extremely fast. I also believe it blows the socks off the fx5600s in all benchmarks except 3dMark2003 under dx9.

The only thing I know is that as more dx9 compatible games come out in the future, then the fx5600 will probably perform better in tests. But for now, I wouldn't justify the money and am verry happy with my Ti4200. It's a beast!

Only reason the FX did well in those tests where the Tweaked aka hacked 44.03 drivers made for it by Nvidia. From all accounts they where made so that the card wasn't put under strain, ie eye candy disabled.
