connection sharing set up

Set up computer one thats the one with the modem as follows.

IP 10.0.0.2 subnet 255.255.255.0 set the dns to +nets dns.
computer 2 set up as 10.0.0.1 subnet 255.255.255.0 and set the default gateway to 10.0.0.2 and the dns again to plus nets. That should all work ok. its often better than the wizard which can screw things up

connection sharing set up

I am trying to enable connection sharing using windows XP
When I open network connection. Then click on the advanced tab in Local Area Connection Properties, there is nothing that says “Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection”
I’ve been told I need to log on as “computer administrator” before the “allow other network users” etc etc .can be seen in the LACP window.
How do I do this?Huh

You need to run the Windows XP Network Setup Wizard .
Follow the instructions through to setup your Net adaptors,
configure and name computers, enable file and printer sharing, etc.
Click on Start, Control Panel.
Click Network and internet connections.
Click Set up or change your home or office network.
In Xp pro the wizard is found in the Control panel or,
Connect to- Show all connections.

i had some problems ( and still have in another post ) but essentially under XP ICS requires that the second NIC on the main computer is 192.168.0.1 (I believe).

You clear all boxes in IE connection for lan connect and make sure there is no dialup (i.e. dial up set to never)

After you have set them up you can do ipconfig /all on each PC but you should have something like :-

MAIN COMPUTER - windows xp home
