SOLVEDcannot surf website-due to firmware prob

If you are getting ping timeouts, then these are network problems, however, which part of the network, you will have to determine.

Instead of doing "ping address", use "tracert address".

Then paste back the results.

It should show you where in the path the ping fails.

SOLVEDcannot surf website-due to firmware prob

The frist trace stops in a Level3 router. Level 3 block most of there ICMP, so this of little use.

The second trace shows the destination is unreachable, however, the last trace being a Tsicali router. This means it is a Tiscali problem.

This is your first trace.

Each hop in the list is a router or machine that the traffic has to pass through. This can help you determine the route that your data takes, and locate where in the flow of your data it has problems.

Hop 1 is your router.

Hop 2 and 3 are PlusNet systems

The rest are Level 3 systems.

As the failure takes place in the Level 3 network, that means that the issue is in there network.

Tracert uses ICMP packets. Level 3 are known to block these within there network. As such, there is nothing you can do to stop this.

WIth the second trace, the destination is unreachable. This means Tiscalis system are quite simply but, dead.
