XP Athlon reporting to be a 1500 when it is a 2200!!

I`ve just put together a new system
but the xp athlon is reporting to be a 1500 chip when it is a 2200
it is fitted into a gigabyte board
any one had the same problem

I'd guess the gigabyte is jumpered at the wrong FSB speed.

You will probably have a couple of speed options for the gigabyte, check the manual for a FSB jumper, then check the manual for the Athlon to see what the FSB needs to be set to.

The setting may be in the bios, but I'd open the case and look for a jumper. Smiley

The setting will be in the bios.
It is quite normal for these boards to boot up initally at a lower default safe speed.
You will need to go into the bios and select the correct speed for you cpu.
Also be aware that after a power failure the board can sometimes revert back to the default lower speed.

FSB is done in the bios was set to 100 ,changed it 133 and now reporting 2200
