Wireless connection

I want to set up a wireless connection soon and am trying to find out if i already have a network card installed on my pc - my hardware device list shows a 'Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller' - would this be a wireless network card?

Wireless connection

No, that is an Ethernet or LAN controller for wired connections.

You will need to buy/fit either a USB or PCI wireless network card.

Wireless connection

Ok, so does that mean i could have a wired connection from my router straight to this desktop pc and then a wireless connection for using a laptop?

Wireless connection

Yes you can do that you would need a wireless modem/router and either a USB wireless adapter or a PCMCIA wireless card for your laptop

You wont have any problems at all using a combination of wired and wireless but wireless PCI cards are so cheap now you could install one into your desktop and do away with the wires altogether
