Windows XP 'Go-back'

Do you mean System Restore? It should be switched on by Default, but to double check - go into the Control Panel, Double Click on 'System', select the 'System Restore' tab and so long as "Turn off System Restore on all drives" isn't ticked then it is switched on.

You can create a Manual Restore Point by navigating to Start > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore, though windows will automatically create restore points at regular intervals, and before installing most software.
