Vista and Wireless. Connected but cant ping

I'm running Windows Vista (32 bit) with a link DWL-510 wireless PCI card. I have a Netgear D834GT router.

After a bit of searching I found Vista drivers for the card, installed with no problems. Windows then picked up my network, asked for the key, and after a long search eventually connected to the network but said it wasnt connected to the Internet, which it wasnt.

I can ping localhost and can ping the PC's own IP. But I cannot ping the router, even though both the router and the PC indicate that its connected. I also cannot ping the PC from other devices on network. I have a Mac and an XP laptop both connected wirelesly with no problems.

Any ideas what's stopping Vista connecting correctly?

Have you tried manually entering the DNS settings for the connection?

I found manually assigning an IP rather than relying on DHCP from the router helped a lot with low signal quality on Vista as well.

I never rely on DHCP Smiley Thanks for the advice though.

I actually got fed up and went and bought a couple of Homeplugs, more stable than wireless anyway!
