Spare PSU to power RAID array. How?

I'd like to use my spare PSU to power my 6 drive array (all external to PC case, they're in their own enclosure). How do i get the PSU to turn on as it wont unless it's connected to the m/b. Is there a way to 'rewire' the psu so I can turn it on independantly by using it's own on/off switch?

:?:

Many thanks

Spare PSU to power RAID array. How?

I noticed a couple of articles about using a PC power supply for other purposes some time ago which said that a suitable resistor needs to be connected accross 2 of the pins.

Had a look and found this article http://web2.murraystate.edu/andy.batts/ps/POWERSUPPLY.HTM

Note though the warning about Dell PC power supplies.

Could always grab an old ATX power supply too. They had a 240V push button switch on them rather than the new style ATs that let the mobo tell it when to turn on.
