Sony Vaio and Memory

What I want is more memory from my computer. I have been looking at Memory Sticks and USB Storage Media, but don't know the difference between these things and if I can use other manufacturers rather than Sony.

The only data I want to save is information I have written e.g. Essays

What I am trying to say is that I just wish to store away certain items and then when I need them I can just plug it into the Vaio.

My Vaio is PCV-V1/G in case this is relevant (Desktop PC)

(And my wrting to disk is playing up) But that Iis a whole different matter

Hope somone understands my ramblings

Sounds like a USB flash drive would be what you want.
Just plug it into one of your USB sockets and store as many essays as you like, then take it out again till you want them back.
Any make will do - I've just bought a 256Mb Bytestor one from Amazon for £19 inc postage, though you may find cheaper if you can be bothered to look.

http://www.ebuyer.com have a range of memory sticks and are very very well priced. I got me a 512Mb one for £26 a while back. Very handy.
