Yes, correct drivers are installed.

I don't understand why I am experiencing this problem and there is no other complaints out there. A google search gives loads of results on cleartype and antialiasing, but nothing on how crap bitmap fonts look on these LCD's.

I must be missing something.

Thanks anyway guys.

Hello everyone..

I've just purchased a Sony SDM-S94 TFT and overall, I'm very pleased with it.

However, the fonts used by some applications look terrible and are very hard to read. Even with cleartype enabled, all of the dialogues in Adobe Premier and in Grisoft AVG are thin, spindley and really unacceptable.

I suspect that these applications use bitmap fonts rather than truetype and no amount of fontsmoothing has any positive effect.

It's doin' me head in!

Has anyone else noticed this when using a TFT and has anyone found a solution?

Thanks

John

Clear type fonts are your answer, what operating system are you using?

Here is the Microsoft link for turning on cleartype fonts.

This is a long shot, but have you got the screen set at its correct native resolution.

Gadgetboy..

Windows XP and as I mentioned in my first post, cleartype is turned on. I don't think this has any effect on bitmap fonts which is what those applications seem to use.

Paulwade..

Yes the monitor is running at it's native resolution..1280 x 1024.

Any other suggestions anyone?
