Simple question on my wifes behalf

Hi All

When you have pressed the "print screen" button on a Windows XP machine, what is the next stage to actually print out the :screen capture",as I am sure there is one but cannot for the life of me remember what it is.

Can someone please enlighten us

Thanking you

I usually paste it into a graphics package or something that accepts graphics (for example MS Word) and print from there.

Pressing Printscreen just copies the current desktop image to the clipboard (just like highlighting and copying text from notepad). You then have to paste it into an app that allows graphics to be inserted. MSWord is one but I tend to use Paint - the graphics editor that comes with most windows versions - or your own graphics editing software. You can the crop it or select just the arera you want to keep.

You then print the image from the app you pasted it into.

If you want to just screen grab a particular window rather than the entire desktop press 'Alt' and 'Prt Scr' then paste into your software. Only the highlighted window will then be copied
