Printer Credits

I'm getting a samsung CLP-510N printer on wednesday. However due to the cost of new cartridges for colour lasers I'm going to need some sort of system to save up for them. What I intend to do is set up a system where I can put x amount in a bank account and then set the printer to allow me to print the amount of pages that would cost that amount of money. It will need to do this for 3 users on at least 2 machines possibly more in the future.

It will need to work with mac OSX tiger and any future versions; Windows 98 first edition upwards; and linux (being delibrately vague about linux as it could be any number of distros).

Could someone suggest how I could go about this if it needs a machine to run on I have a 486 lying spare atm which could be used or a might be able to get my hands on a pentium machine but nothing of considerable spec...

That looks good - but will it work with the printers on board print server?
