Go to My Computer icon on the desktop right click and select Manage then Services and Applications, Services, Print Spooler you can then stop and restart it

It should not be causing you a problem. Make sure you have all the latest Windows updates and you are running the latest BIOS for your mobo as BIOS issues can sometimes cause suspend to fail.

Thanks that seems to have done the job. What does this do anyway?

Essentially it holds all the documents in the print queue even if the printer isn't available and the application which created them has been shut down,
It can even hold documents after windows has closed and the computer rebooted.
I first came across this problem when a printer failed with a novice user and I had to go and sort the problem.
Normally you can just go into the printer status and delete the documents but sometimes it just doesn't work and this certainly fixed it.
