PCMCIA -> PCI Adaptor

Do they make a PCMCIA -> PCI adaptor or similar?
I have a PCMCIA GPRS card which we run in a crappy old laptop and access via VNC but I'd like to stick it in my computer in work.

In case anyone is wondering why I want a GPRS enabled desktop computer, we use the GPRS card to do bulk SMSs.

Hi Chris,

Seems they do exist. With a quick search on Google I found this company that sells them (couldn't see a price though ?) http://www.dpie.com/pcbus/pcmciapci.html

Best bet, contact them for a price list I guess. I'm sure other companies sell them too.

Regards,

Dave

I don't know how dear those PCI cards are, but if they're pretty expensive, it'll probably work out cheaper to eBay the GPRS card and buy yourself a cheap mobile that can be connected to a computer (the Siemens S45 - the predecessor to mine - comes to mind).

Is it not just easier to get a online account and hook in to an API.

Messages are a lot cheaper and much faster that way.

Dont know really, guess they are all options to look into.
We only pay 2p for the texts and send around 150 per week on average.
I dont think they will go for spending a lot of money, but its a new financial year so who knows.
