Outside connection

heya,
Got a Netgear wireless router connecting 2 pc's to the net.
Im running Ubuntu with Apache Mysql Php to develop web pages on.

Im makin a website for as a project for uni, and its pretty specific as to the setup - got icecast installed etc - so uploading the whole thing to my webhost aint gonna work.

So i want to make my pc public so i can demo this at uni. The alternative is to haul my box over 30miles and set it up down there - way way to much hassle.

I have got my router setup (i think) by using the firewall rules to accept HTTP(TCP:80) as a "Service" and "Send to LAN Server" as my local pc's IP.

So i got my static ip and entered it into the browser address bar and thumped the gogo button - took me straight to router config login - somethings not workin right here, i should have seen the index page of my local Apache server.

Can anyone help plz...?

You appear to have remote access on your router enabled. This is a security risk and should be disabled. What is happening is your router is accepting the port 80 connection rather than passing it through via port forwarding to your local webserver.

Or choose another port like 8080 and port forward that to your local webserver. Then access it as http://ip:8080 or you can use http://username.plus.com:8080

Completely rewritten - got too long a convoluted.
============================

I have upgraded firware reset to factory settings.
By default Remote management is off.
http://www.sygatetech.com/stealthscan.html - shows all ports blocked even port 80.
How come u can get to my router settings when you dont specify a port number? (specifying port 80 achieves the same affect, dont it?)
Why when i specify port 81 to forward to my local machine, does it just refuse the connection?

I am at my wits end, this has turned into a whole hoo-haa that i never anticipated.

Edit - The Long And Short of it All
It doesnt matter what i tell this router to do, the result is always the same, connection refused if anything other than port 80 or no port at all are specified. I think the setup screen is just for show, and i have got a counterfeit router. Sad
