Hello! Can some tell me how to get my Notepad back on the right click; on the desktop, the new menu...

It should be under Local Disk in the Windows file as notepad.exe
Find it and drag it to the desktop.

I want to put it back onto the; New submenu of context menus for the desktop...If you right click your desktop and look at the menu under new you will see Notepad, mine been deleted!

Right click the desktop
Select New and Shortcut
Browse to the Windows folder and select Notepad.exe

Well its not on mine if I follow your method and as far as I can recall it never has been? (Windows Xp home)

Or why not just put it in the Quickstart bar on the bottom left?
That's where mine is and you open it with one click then.

Used the openwith choose program option. This was an association problem!

It depends what you use notepad for?

If on XP you want to use it for looking at the source code on webpages then if you move it from the accessories or put a link in on the desktop it stops allowing the source view.
I have raised this with Microsoft and it is apparently a known problem.

If you're wanting to add it in to the list of programs available when you right-click on a file then copy and paste a link to the EXE in the C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\SendTo folder.
