I have an Acer Aspire 1355LC Notebook with 512MB of memory. (2x256MB - no free slots)
I want to upgrade my machine so things run a little quicker. (I only have shared graphics memory )
According to a Crucial memory scan, I need 200 pin SODIMM DDR PC2700 memory.
Now the muppet question! Do I have to buy machine specific memory, or can I go and get generic memory as long as it meets the spec above?
I know with desktop memory it's dead easy. As long as it's the same spec then no problem etc, but with notebooks I get the impression that it's a little more specific?
Any ideas? Also, any decent websites I could buy off?
200 pin SODIMM is a standard notebook memory format, so generic memory should be fine. Memory is a commodity product so prices tend not to vary that much between retailers. I find www.dabs.com are pretty good, if you use the Crucial memory selector from the dabs site they will guarantee that it will be compatible.
