New mailbox password problem

I have just created a new mailbox & setup an account in Outlook Express. Although i can send mail i cannot retrieve mail due to a 'Your password is not recognised' error. The same applies when i try to access through webmail. All settings have been checked, i have even updated the mailbox with a different password to no avail. Does it take a while for the mailbox to be setup properly? Any advice appreciated.

Have you checked if you open it using webmail?

It wont open in webmail for the same reason.

Does mail sent to the new mailbox name end up in your default mailbox or does it just disappear? (send a message to the new maibox with a copy to a working mailbox so that you can be sure it has arrived)

That should tell you if the mailbox creation has failed or if it has been created and the problem is just accessing it.

what username are you putting in when trying to access it?

If you created a mailbox fred then to get mail you would login as rja66+fred is that what you are doing?

Yes, i was set up with rja66+"fred".

Strangely all seems to be working fine this morning (although i have not changed anything!?).

This was probably the cause of your problems.
