Netgear RP114 & D-Link modem problem

Hi

I can connect fine using my modem only. But when I add the Netgear router I lose contact with the modem. I have tried about 3 hours worth of various setting permutations but to no avail. Has anyone a similar setup? I just need the router settings that work!. Thanks in advance.

What configuration is your router in at the moment? i.e are you using NAT through it? is it setup to hold open your broadband? Let me know in as much detail as you can.

Which modem have you? if its a 300g and your modem and router will have the same ip address so you will have to change the router to a different range say 192.168.2.1

They need to be on the same IP address range, If your Moden is on say 192.168.0.1 you will have to put your routers external address on 192.168.0.xxx .

the internal side of the router then needs to be on a diferent range i.e 10.0.0.xxx or 172.16.0.xx. the router supports DHCP which can be configured to give all your Client pc's there own internal address.
