Need Help - Router & Vista Related

Hi

Recently just bought a Linksys WAG54GS and didnt really consider if it would work on the latest build of Windows Vista, It seems to fail on the final part of installation which involves Upgrading Firmware.

All else is fine, well...part from the fact it doesnt work. Was wondering if anyone else was in the same position and had a work around...

Cheers

Colin

Surly you dont need to install any drivers as its an external bit of kit? just point your box at its ip etc and it *should* work. Upgrading the firmware on it should be totaly OS independant (for the computer your working from) seein as you are just uploading a file to the Linksys WAG54GS and telling it what to do -- thats all handled on the Linksys WAG54GS its self.

upgrading the firmwareHuh you shouldnt have to.

The whole ethernet framework is an ISO standard, it doesnt change between OS's.

If anything was the problem it was network card drivers or config inside windows.

if its tried upgrading the firmware and its now not working, its likely youve killed it.

your only option now is to download a firmware image for it and log in through the console, it should be in rom monitor mode which means it cannot find a working OS image (router OS not pc, dont confuse these) and you will have to flash it from there.

But it's a first time installation, and the use of Web Based set up doesnt register without Installation by the looks of it.
Shame it continously tries to upgrade the Firmware without asking verifcation before hand.

And I havent "killed" and its really more installing than upgrading I suppose.

PS Running from a Netgear DG632 atm.
