Mixing ATA with Serial ATA RAID

Does anyone know if it's possible (under Win 2k) to set up a bootable IDE ATA disk, with a second set of RAID (mirrored) Serial ATA drives? Or do you have to boot off a RAID if you have one set up? Is the answer to this question likely to depend on the RAID chipset?

It very much depends on the RAID chipset in use and the support it provides.

But it is, in principle, possible?

Yes.

I currently use my ATA drive as a boot drive and a mirrored SATA set serpate (non-boot).

What chipset are you using? Smiley

Erm, good point.

I am using SiI 3112 SATA Raid controler for my mirrored set.

My mobo is an Asus P4B533-V. Dunno what chipset it runs on.

Ah, excellent. That's the same SATA chipset as me.

check through your BIOS, the options for booting will be in there somewhere
