MSHOME Network

Hello All,

Can anyone help !!

I have 3 PC's at home on a network via a DSL Router.
My daughter has just bought a new laptop in place of her PC.

When i plug the laptop into the Network (either wireless or Cat5 cable) i can access the internet Ok, but i cannot access or even see the other computers in the network.

I have re-installed "network wizard"...etc.. and ensure the laptop C drive is shared, and even turned off winXp firewall, but still cannot see other PC's. However if i go to another PC i can see the laptop on the Network but cannot access it !!!

Help !!

Thanks
Andy

Any firewalls such as zonealarm?
If so you will need to make sure that you have set up a trusted zone with the range of IPs for your network.

This one fooled me for a while.

Hi there,

Not a fan of the Home Network wizard.

Have a look at this tutorial expertly prepared by buzzons, a fellow customer.

http://www.buzzons.co.uk/tutorials/network/network.htm

Note it may take a second or two to load.

It should help and will be a better job than the wizard.

As John says ensure any firewalls are properly configured.

Try turning Norton off just while you prove its not that causing it.
You can very easily get the situation where PC 1 can see PC 2 but not the otherway round.
It's usualy due to security / firewall issues.
