M.S.N. Messenger

I have spent the last 2 hours installing ,uninstalling and re-installing msn messenger.
My problem was (and still is) that msn would not recognise my internet connection.
I tried Yahoo Messenger and had the same problem.

Is this common to Plus Net users?

I would not bother but I have a friend who wants to send me a large file of about 94mb and he wants to use msn.

:?: Any ideas :?:

There has been a problem with MSN Messenger over the last Day or so.
If you open "Help" and then "Service status" it should inform you about the current state.
I have just tried connecting and at the moment its working, but it wasn't for quite a while earlier today.

What ADSL hardware are you using? If it has UPNP capability make sure it is enabled. Also make sure the UPNP service is enabled in windows if your using XP. UPNP allows MSN messanger to setup the necessary ports through your routers firewall and accept incoming connections.

Do you also have a software firewall?

also make sure you are not using a proxy in the connection settings (and if you are, that its still allive)
