I recently purchased a Toshiba Laptop that comes with a recovery CD which looks like a Ghost clone of the OS as it left the factory.
I contacted Toshiba to say that I would like to re-install Windows so that I can partition the drive etc. They said that this isn't possible as you don't get XP with the computer
Some might say "use Partition Magic". Firstly they don't advice using it. As far as I know the BIOS isn't on the hard drive (or recovery partition) but what about if I wanted to re-install in a years time for house keeping sake :?
Is this Microsoft's doing as I was only reading some time ago they were keen to stop manufacturers giving a full version of the Operating System out.
I have paid for XP pro on my laptop and it has the Microsoft key on the back so why can't I re-install it when I want.
