I have a Tosiba laptop and the cusor has suddenly locked up in the centre of the screen and will not move using the built in mouse on the keyboard.
Anyone out there with any idea as to what could be wrong.
Have tried to reboot .
Have also tried the windows button and ctrl alt & delete .
None make any difference.

If you have or can borrow a standard mouse then plug that in and see if it works. If so then you probably have a dodgy touchpad or maybe just a loose connector. Is the laptop under warranty? If so take it back to where you bought it. If not, have a look at the manual - it might tell you how to lift the keyboard to access the hard drive and other stuff inside. Find the connectors from the keyboard and disconnect and reconnect them. Do this with the power supply unplugged and the battery removed.

If you are not confident about doing this (laptops have lots of small fiddly parts and are sometimes very difficult to take apart) then find a laptop repair specialist to have a look at it.

The fact you say Alt+Ctrl+Del doesn't work would indicate total lock up!
That can be down to either software(especially device drivers) or hardware(maybe a heat problem), so dunno how to help without more info tbh. Sry.

Have you locked the pc? I went to one the other day and there was a lock for the mouse and it gave these results. It could be you used a function key + somthing to set the keyboard as external
