Install Binatone ADSL 500 in RH9 for newbies

I am a newbie to Linux, and have recently got hold of the linux drivers for the Binatone ADSL 500.

But I am having trouble installing it. The help file says to use the command

#rpm --rebuild USBENDPOINT-1.7-1.src.rpm

which doesn't work, because the rebuild command isn't detected. there is a rebuilddb command but the OS says that I have too much resources in use!

How do I install and set up the modem in Red Hat 9 considering I have the right drivers!

Doh!

It looks like this is for the new version of Binatone ADSL500.

Never mind, I will just have to buy that router.

Redhat 9 and Binatone ADSL 500

Hi,

I have installed the Binatone ADSL 500 driver onto my Redhat 9 installation and rebooted. At first it did not recognise the new firmware (even though I followed the instructions to the letter).

I found that I had to copy the new firmware from '/usr/local/e2' into '/etc' without renaming it to a mixture of upper and lowercase characters (despite the instructions saying it must be cnE2FHuh.bin). When I reboot now the boot messages indicate that the modem is recognised and loads with an [OK].

Where now? How do I set up the network connection using Linux? The redhat control panel displays an xDSL configuration page but only lists ethernet devices ....

Thanks in advance

Miles
