Improvement on Explorer file copying?

Can anyone suggest a better file manager? Windows Explorer is fine and does a good job for pretty much anything. The one thing that annoys me is thus: when I'm copying large amounts of data, such as backing up a hard drive, or moving loads of files from one drive to another, if there's an error, the whole process stops. I'd rather have something that carries on copying what it can and then reports what failed. Any ideas much appreciated, thank you!

use FTP to move large amounts of files around, that way when it errors it will only error on *that* file and skip it, continuing with the rest of them

Thanks for that. How do I use FTP on a local computer or network? I can't seem to make Cute do it... am I missing something obvious?

Use Robocopy its free from

You also get a lot of other free utils. Robocopy is a command tool but very very fast with lots of option like mirror files etc
