Dumb question time

Hi All

I am using a D-link DI-614+ but I imagine my query applies to most routers.

If I change something ie a setting in the firewall and click apply is that sufficient or is it necessary to reboot the router.

Also is there a way to confirm if a computer is in the DMZ or not as I am not sure if my attempts to put this machine temporarily into the DMZ are successful or not.

Thanks in advance

It really depends on the router, I use the Netgear DG834, and if I click apply on rules to allow traffic, this is normally enough but when I revoke them I normally find I need to reboot the router.

Use the GRC site to check if a computer is correctly working within the DMZ.

I think the DMZ has worked went to the above site, and whereas before most ports were stealthed with a couple closed the situation is now reversed which I presume is what is supposed to happen so security does not seem to have been compromised too much, and am hoping that the fact I am using a "Mac" may improve the situation somewhat.

Thanks Aaron for the reply it is appreciated
