Disconnecting every 3 minutes desperate help needed!!!

Can somebody please please help me?


on friday i could not get a signal and decided to leave it till last night when i unistalled and reinstalled the drivers for my bt voyager 105 supplied by plus net.

Since that i have been disconnected every few minutes if im lucky enough to connect other i get a ppp link error despite folliwng the help it supplies there is still no difference some times it will connect if it does then it will disconnect after a few minutes if it doesnt i get a ppp link eror

Can somebody help me sort this out?

Ah, you didnt mention the 734 error originally.

This is more than likely an issue with your local setup or modem configuration.

Have a read at this article from Microsoft and check your configuration.

What Operating system are you using and what Anti Virus and Firewall are you using?

yeh the error is ppp link control was terminated or summet like that...

AVG anti virus
Zone alarm free version firewall

there is no time limit on the disconnection it could stay connected for 2 minutes one time and 10 the next but next time im disconnected i will try that


as for that article i have read it and the settings were already how they mentioned

Hi Kyle,

I am assuming that you are certain that you are using the correct username and password.

For intermittant connections you would normally need to check/answer the following questions:

1. Does the loss of connection occur only at certain times of the day or is
it continuous? (If only at certain times, please state the time.)

2. How long has the problem been occurring for, when did it start?

3. What are you doing at the time of the fault? (e.g. downloading large
files/Does it only drop when idle?)

4. When the connection drops is sync lost on the modem/router?(i.e does the
ADSL link light start flashing or does remain solid green)

5. Do you have any other equipment on the line that may affect service, such
as a fax machine?

6. Is the PSTN service OK? (Normal telephone voice calls)

7. Have you tried the connection with *ONLY* the ADSL equipment plugged
directly into the mastersocket through a microfilter/splitter and no other
things plugged into any other extension sockets in the house/premises.
Please note that this test is *VERY IMPORTANT* as it removes the chances of
the problem being with internal wiring or other faulty equipment (phones
(including cordless ones), faxes, skyboxes etc) being the cause of the
problem. We can appreciate that this can be inconvenient but a lot of faults
are caused by this. This is especially important for accounts that have
never worked or if you have installed any other equipment which plugs into
the phoneline.

8. Has the modem/router been changed ?

9. Has the microfilter been changed to prove if it is a problem ?


If all the above have been checked, then this will need to be raised with Plus Net. Ensure you tell them about the error 734 and that you are using the correct username and password and copy the questions and answers into your ticket. I would add that problems like this have been caused by RF (radio frequency) interference. Things like Christmas tree lights, boilers and even the next door neigbours TV, so do try and rule everything out. Can you think of any coincidences that correlate to the fault?

I know that this may seeem like jumping through hoops to get this sorted but it is necessary.

If the modem is at fault, it should be under warranty (judging by your joining date)and Plus net will replace it if necessary.

i think i may have cracked it...

i had swapped filters over on friday because i oculdnt get a dial tone today i decided to change the filters over and wella!


i was connected for over n hour without a disconnection so fingers crossed at the moment!!!
