DDNS. Dynamic IP and NAS boxes

At the moment I have a static IP address with Plus Net on an older package. The new packages don't offer a static IP address (I think) and my QNap TS-101 mentions DDNS in the spec. Searching about there appears to be various organisations offering IP tracking with some software that will enable me to get at my NAS box from anywhere despite Plus Net changing my IP address should I log off and on again - power cut. May I have some advice from people who have done this please? Thanks. I note some web pages mention DDNS being free; is it really free?
http://www.dyndns.com/about/ is one page I have been reading.

The Broadband Your Way packages do support Static IP address Cheesy
In fact that now give you the choice which can be controlled here;
https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=control_your_broadband
(Link may not work for customers on older packages)

When I changed over I was also able to keep the same IP address.
I an not sure that it is needed, but add the comment on to the ticked requesting the package changed.

Now to your question of http://www.dyndns.com/ their basic service which would cover your requirements, is free.

Static IP

OK - may go for the £14.99 package, which is what I am paying now.
Sorry, another question about changing package. Do I keep my referrals? Also, if somebody I have referred changes their package do I still get my discount? Thanks.

That will be the package that I am on.
Just double check the peak times, as they are all day on BBYW.

You will still keep your referrals, but referral values may changed, so for example if one of your referrals changes to BBYW1 the you will only get 25p per month Cry

Ah the old static IP. If there was ever a better reason to stay with Plus Net, couldn't live without my static IP!
