USB devices is somewhat hit and miss on Linux and support for specific ADSL modems relies on the manufacturer supplying a Linux driver for it or someone else having the requirement and writing one themselves.

Your best bet is to get an external router and connect via a normal ethernet cable to a network card as there are a lot more network cards supported than ADSL modems.

You could ask for help at www.mandrakeusers.org...

... but I've had a quick look at the Linux USB device review, the Mandrake hardware database and www.linuxcompatible.org and it doesn't look promising... Sad

I just wanted to sympathise with fernandes. I just started looking into Linux and installed Feroda. I've been trying all over the net to see if I could get my PCI ADSL modem working with it but without luck. I'm now trying to work out what these routers are all about. (more expense!)

Ethernet modem

A router is the best way to go, but if you are looking for a cheaper alternative both D-Link and Netgear do Ethernet modem’s for £60 to £70. (about ½ the cost of a router.)

I'll just point out that you need to be aware of the difference between a gateway and a router - gateways actually have to have a modem attached, routers are an all-encompassing solution.
