Background Tab disabled - how to display pics anyway?

Hi

For some deep reason - probably to keep spyware off our computers - our employer has decided that we are not allowed to change the wallpaper on our computers. So we are all sat facing 'deep blue' which is exceedinly boring. I'd just like to be able to display the odd digital pic from holidays to brighten up my desktop.

However, it seems that even this is not possible; whereas before I could email a pic from home, then open it with IE and then right click 'Save as desktop background', that option has now disappeared.

Does anyone have any ideas about how one might get round this bureaucracy so as to be able to have a more personalised desktop space?

Tips and hints gratefully received!

Cheers

Dare I suggest that if you violate your companies IT polices, you may have more time to be looking at those views on holiday. Tongue

You could try opening the image in the standard "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer", then right clicking and choosing 'Set as desktop background'. Just a thought Smiley

Isn't it up to santiago whether he wishes to risk upsetting the powers that be?

Ah but you aren't helping with the OP's problem - and isn't that what the award is all about those who help people

Seriously though why doesn't the OP just have a word with IT and ask what the reason is and if it could be lifted (probably won't work but worth a shot)?

Indeed it is Dan and i will help where i can but i dont want to help him out of a job Sad
and as his IT department have done this for a reason im sure they will be keeping an eye open for anyone who may fiddle with it for a little while

If you have gone for the direct approach which is always best and they still wont play ball leave it be its not worth the wrath of IT some of them take there jobs far too seriously
No offence meant to any IT bods of course Wink
