Hi All

My aim is to be able to video chat with my sister who has Windows+Netmeeting
as nothing else seems to work including "iChat".I am operating Mac OS 10.3.5,and
would like to see if I can get "gnomemeeting" running on this machine to try
that; plus there there is lots of software out there I am interested in.

However I have only just got used to the "Mac" way of doing things, and the
thought of playing with "Fink" and "Fink Commander" etc makes me break out
into a cold sweat at the moment.

So could anyone point me to a website or recommend a book for a total
beginner: one that answers for example simple questions such as "Do I have to
download and install "X11" before downloading "Fink" etc.Thats how much of a
beginner I am :-(

Thanks in advance for any help or assistance

A browse through the "Internet Security" forum.and the recent lengthy discussions regarding SP2 should have made that fairly obvious I should have thought <tongue in cheek mode off>

But I had considered a cheap one,but even that seems a lot of expense to just use 1 piece of software. But have decided that in order for me to aviod the inevitable battle with "Fink" etc and the expensive of buying a PC the best option for me is to give her an early Xmas present and pay for her to have broadband connected (Plusnet may get another customer) then my "iChat" and her "AOL IM" will talk to each other.

im runnin SP2 just fine // also linux?

macs only had 1 thing going for them : the graphics.. and now.. opterons OWN them in EVERY bench you can do for the major 3 gfx tools (maya / 3ds / xsi) so they dont even have that any more.. so i can see that 3% of the market dropping as every one stops getting £3000+ G5s and goes for a dual opteron.

Hi theattic

Yes I did have a look at "Eyeball" but unless i am very much mistaken and I was looking in the wrong place: it seems to be just for Windows.
