i've had a ticket open for a few months now regarding the llu disconnections problem. i understand that this is a very difficult problem to solve, and i am waiting (fairly) patiently for it to be fixed.

however, every now and again someone somewhere at plusnet (or maybe tiscali, who knows) takes it upon themselves to change my line profile and reduce my sync speed. my understanding of the llu disconnection problem is that it's not related to sync speed, so why does this happen? this time my download sync has dropped from 3000 to 2300, and my upload from ~650 to 253. this slows things down no end when i'm accessing my home network from work.

can someone tell me if this change has been made to try and fix the llu disconnections, because if that's the reason then it hasn't worked. and then can someone please reset my profile to how it was before.

according to this comment on my ticket, changing my profile has "luckily" fixed the llu disconnection problem. (name blanked by me - they're not sending me kisses)

Our LLU has completed its investigation and luckily, has made alterations to your line profile settings. There are no faults present on the line and this would indicate that the issue you were experiencing has been resolved. Please re-test your equipment and do not hesitate to contact us should any issues persist.

can someone either explain to me why the problem on my line can be fixed with a profile change, or explain to the CSC agent exactly what's going on
