Around 9pm last night I checked the modem again. Success, 2 static green lights. The the computer crashed and had to be rebooted. Now the 2nd green light is flashing again. I hope BT hadn't sorted the problem at the exchange and rebooting kicked it off again.

This sent me thinking. Once the line is working properly, am I at risk of causing the same problem in the exchange every time I switch off the computer. I cannot leave it on 24/7 until BT sort themselves out. This computer needs rebooting 2 or 3 times a day.

Roll on "May" when BT have upgraded all the problem exchanges!
