rdns / ptr

Very quick query, What's the actual process of getting this changed. i.e. Once PN have determined a valid A record exists.

Create a PTR within PN's Nameservers, allow that to propagate for 48 hours, and then remove the original A record? (i.e. username.plus.com)?

Thus allowing only 1 resolvable A record for that IP/Host?

Cheers, Paul.

Hi,

We have 3 choices for rDNS

username.plus.com (default)
ip-address.plus.com
host.domain.tld (for a domain you own)

If you've created the A record for the domain (via Domain names on the left if hosted with us or via your existing host if not), then raise a ticket (there's a specific route through the wizard under Technical) stating what you want the rDNS to be. The support team then change the rDNS on our side and it takes about 24 hours to update on the nameservers.

Hiya, Thanks for your response.

I went through the process, I was just interested how it was implemented..

I can already see both A records exist on PN's Nameservers as well as my hosters. Should I assume the original record will be removed come Tuesdays 4am refresh on PN NS?

(of course allowing for global propagation).

Paul.
