the set up costs are incredible, i did a lot of research before i chose +net but i obviously missed the small print.... like paying £10 admin, £15 for the modem and £6 for them to send it to me! I am gutted. the only thing i signed up for which was a small payment to have a monthly contract - only later to find out that cost me £47! and only 1 gb per month

and to top it off there is no cust service number to call.

The customer servicenumber is located in the help and support section if you use that link above.

For reference it is 0845 1400200.

Why would the monthly contract cost you £47? If you are wishing to leave the service then yes as your activation charge would have been deffered on the grounds that you reamin with Plusnet for x months / years.

Hi there aberlondon.

Welcome to the forums.

Can you give us a bit more information?

What account or package have you signed up for?

Is this a new activation or have you migrated from another ADSL provider?

What have you paid so far?

There are (it seems) plenty of things to get annoyed at +net for, but setup costs are plain to see.

SPECIAL OFFER! FREE setup now available - save over £80 [Terms Apply]

and when you click the [Terms Apply] link you get.....

"Want the detail? 'You stay we pay' explained.

For every year you stay with PlusNet we'll guarantee that the cancellation cost decreases. What does this mean? If you cancel within the first year, then you will pay £47 for the activation. For every year you stay we'll reduce this by £9.40. If you also choose to take a modem as part of the offer there will be an additional cancellation fee of £25 in the first year and this will reduce by £5 for each year that you stay.

You can choose an annual or monthly contract when you choose broadband. If you choose the monthly contract option in conjunction with this offer there is a one-off charge of £11.75.

Prices correct at time of publication and exclude short term special offers. "

How much is 'a lot of research' then?

seems fair enough to me.

Personally, I just wouldnt bother with all the free crap. Pay my own activation, pay for my own hardware. At least then you know where you are.

I think Abe London is possibly on the £14.99 PAYG account?
“1GB included as standard”
but you do seem to get free off peak downloads on that package as well. :?

Hey there,

Sorry to hear that you feel that you were misled on signup. That's really not what we're about and we try to give you as much information as possible.

Is there anything we can help you with at all?

...I think if you go for a yearly contract (though paying monthly) you get free stuff, choose monthly and you've to pay for setup/kit
